Field Application
Applicators that are used to spread lime can also be used to spread PRO CAL 40. PRO CAL 40 has a very fine particle size nearly all passing a 200 mesh screen. This has agronomic benefits, however, it makes application more challenging. PRO CAL 40 contains about 25% moisture when delivered from PGLA. This moisture level allows this fine of material to be spread without a dusting problem. Gypsum also has an affinity for itself so it will tend to form little BBs or clumps when thrown from the spinners.

Soil Solutions owns and operates four spinner type spreader applicators. One of these has a Barron & Brothers box. This box has 60 degree sides and a 28" opening in the back and a chain for transporting product out of the box. We also have an 1844 Terragator applicator with a L3020 New Leader box. It has a 23" opening in the back and a belt over chain for transporting the material to the spinners. Our newest applicator is a Tyler 4020 with a New Leader 5034 box. This has 50 degree sides and a 34" chain. Our fourth applicator is a Tyler equipped with a 7020 New Leader box. All four of these spreaders work fine for spreading the PRO CAL 40 directly from PGLA.
This picture shows the 1844 Terragator with the L3020 New Leader box spreading PRO CAL 40. Notice that there is little dust behind the applicator. Some dealers now have the New Leader G4 boxes. With this unit they are able to get an even application of a 50 foot swath with PRO CAL 40.
This picture shows the Tyler 4020 applicator that Soil Solutions owns with the New Leader 5034 G4 box on it. With this applicator we can spread PRO CAL 40 at a 60 foot width.
In addition to the floater type applicators we also have three pull-type carts with Barron and Brothers boxes for rent to our farmer customers. These work very well for those clients that would like to spread their own. They have PTO driven hydraulics that operate both the spinners and the chain web.
Soil Solutions also owns a Barron & Brothers Cricket applicator for turf grass application or for rent to golf courses. It works very nice for those clients that don't want the heavy equipment or have smaller areas to spread.
