Soil Solutions, LLC began operations in May, 2002. Based in Holstein, IA, we manage and market two products from PGLA-1 in Blair, NE. Calcium Sulfate (PRO CAL 40) is one of these products. It is a product produced as a result of making lactic acid from the sugars of corn. We are marketing this product primarily within a 200 mile radius of Blair, NE. The other product is a biomass product. It has value as a source of phosphorus, calcium, sulfur, micronutrients and also adds organic matter. It also improves soil structure. This product is mainly marketed within 30 miles of Blair, NE.

In 2003 we have begun marketing a calcium sulfate material from the Georgia-Pacific plant near Marysville, KS. This product will help supply customers in southern Nebraska and northern Kansas. In 2003, we also began operations in Illinois where we are also marketing calcium sulfate to area producers.

Owners of Soil Solutions, LLC are Kevin Heck, Holstein, IA, Dale Ronfeldt, Hornick, IA, and Bob Hecht, Seneca, KS. As owners of Soil Solutions we recognized that there was a demand for calcium sulfate for improved crop production and soil management. We also recognized that most calcium sulfate mines were not marketing to the agricultural producers. Granulized calcium sulfate has been highly used in many areas, but is not cost effective in those soils that require high rates. Our products provide those producers a very cost effective product within our marketing area.
